An incomplete copper alloy double looped spectacle buckle of medieval to post medieval date, c. AD 1350 - 1650 (Whitehead 1996, 54). Description: Only one loop remains intact and the pin is missing. The remaining frame consists of one D-shaped loop and D-shaped in cross-section. The frame has some moulded decoration on the outer edge each lobe of which is picked out with a subtle incised line. Fragment of a medieval copper alloy single-loop buckle frame. The frame was originally pentagonal in shape with half of the outer edge consisting of two of the five sides remaining. The other two sides and the strap bar are missing to old breaks. The sides are D-shaped in section with a convex front and flat back. The remaining stub of the cross bar suggests it was thinned. An incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle pin, dating to c.1270-1350 AD. The pin shaft is triangular in shape, narrowing to a rounded point which has a small dent on the inside edge. The shaft is sub-rectangular in cross section. At the wider end there is a raised ridge grip with two horizontal grooves. The pin then curves round to form an incomplete loop which would have been attached to the buckle frame. The pin is a dark green colour, with patches of lighter green.
