Object type: RING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lancashire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A copper alloy ring probably dating to the medieval period. The object is circular in plan and hexagonal in cross-section. The ring varies in thickness where the object has worn, probably due to wearing against another connection. It has a mid-brown patina.
Notes:
Plain rings of such proportions have often been suggested to be Medieval or Post-Medieval harness rings (Geake 2001, 74), though they are typically un-diagnostic.
