Broad period: MODERN
County: North Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Lead alloy toy. Solid cast semi-flat toy farm animal, representing a large quadruped, probably a horse, naturalistically modelled at a scale of c.1:40, though now lacking its legs and head. Extensive traces of black paint remain. The semi-flat form of toy figures was characteristic of Continental, particularly German, manufacture before the First World War. A rather damaged fragment originating from an ampulla dating to the Medieval period, c. 1350-1500.
