A cast, copper alloy, eye from a Post Medieval clasp. The eye consists of a lozange-shaped plate with a circular loop on one apex. The plate is decorated in relief with an interwined square and quatrefoil, within engrailed edges.In the centre of the plate is a rivet hole. There are globular knops on the apex opposite the loop and to one side. The fourth apex is broken, but longer and wider than the opposite knopped ones and is decorated in a way that suggests it joined to another eye. The eye has a deep green, smooth patina. A complete Post medieval copper alloy thimble dating AD1520-1620. The thimble has a wide margin between the base and the regularly spaced pits. The pits are drilled in a spiral and they cover the peak. Where the pits terminate, there is a makers stamp in the form of a capital letter 'R'. Holmes (1988:3) writes "Thimbles with hand punched indentations often have a maker's mark which is struck where the spiral of the indentations begins near the base. A worn cast copper-alloy Early Medieval buckle plate, dating to the late 6th-7th centuries. Description: The plate survives as the front plate of a boxe type buckle plate and is sub-triangular in plan with a flat circular lobe at the belt attachment end. The lobe has a raised dome at the centre. At the opposite end there are two more lobes with two two matchign domes.
