A worn cast copper-alloy Early Medieval buckle plate, dating to the late 6th-7th centuries.
Description: The plate survives as the front plate of a boxe type buckle plate and is sub-triangular in plan with a flat circular lobe at the belt attachment end. The lobe has a raised dome at the centre. At the opposite end there are two more lobes with two two matchign domes. The upper surface is heavily decorated with a sunken panel with a raised border in which a pair of entwined beasts are shown in relief.
