Post Medieval copper alloy dagger scabbard chape dating to c. AD 1600-1700. This example is made from a plain copper alloy sheet, that has been folded into a flat conical shape; the edges have been overlapped then soldered. The sides taper towards the base of the chape where the sides angle sharply inwards producing a V-shaped terminal.

An incomplete Medieval to post medieval copper alloy purse bar. Only one half of the bar survives. It is rectangular in plan and ovate in section, tapering along its length to a circular terminal at one end and a worn break at the other end. An integral loop projects from one edge. A small post medieval lead item in the shape of a Canterbury Cross. The arms are of equal length and widen to a hammer shape at the end with beads at the outer corners. One arm is missing. Each arm has a central vane with barbs to the outer ridge. There is a small square panel in the centre of the cross. There is a small knob, possibly a suspension mount, at the top.

A small white lead pot mend, probably late roman to medieval. One side is roughly circular and convex, the other side is pear-shaped and flat. Between the two sides is a depression running around the artefact; this appears to contain fragments of pottery on one side. It could be from Roman to Medieval in date. An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment originating from a zoomorphic brooch dating to the late Roman period, c. 350-450 AD. It originally would have been broadly rectangular in plan with a straight strap-bar. Only a small fragment of the outer frame survives. It takes the form of a pair of dolphin-like animal. Originally there were probably two dolphins facing each other and conjoined at the mouth. Just prior to the snout of a small circular pit within a circle presumably the eye. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it measures 28.00mm long , and 11mm wide by 2.00…

A copper alloy mount dating from the Roman period. The surviving piece is in the shape of a semi circle which has two smaller circular pieces cut out of it (pelta shaped). The front is convex and the reverse is flat. it has a notch opposite the central bar. It has a length of 33.0mm, width 22.0mm from notch to tip of central bar. Thickness 2.00mm, weight 8.92g. Similar objects on the PAS database are ESS-A61324, SUSS-EA12D2 and WILT-6F9C36. They are often associated with the military and tend to be given a 4th century date.

Medieval copper alloy rectangular buckle plate with rouletted decoration on one face. One iron rivet remains in one corner with a hole at the opposing corner where a rivet has been. One face is polished and decorated with rouletting in a St Andrews cross shape with further rouletting on the outer edges of the longer sides. The other face is rough and unpolished and has clearly been attached to a leather or fabric strap. Length 39; width 19; thickness 1mm.

A copper alloy, medieval strap end, of a tongue-shaped form. This particular strap end would of had a scalloped attachment edge, round grooved aperture and two rivets, tapering sides on a leather strap, though is missing some of these vital components. The condition of the strap end is rather poor, with bent ends and missing elements, but with one rivet still inplace. Reference: Egan, G. & Pritchard, F. (2002). Dress accessories 1150-1450. A copper alloy tumbrel dating to 1200 - 1500. This folding balance for weighing coins was formed from two arms which pivot in the middle allowing the balance to be opened into a cross shape to be used, or folded flat. One arm includes an integral pan and weight and this passes through the wider arm. The pan is 12m x 11mm and has a ridge on the sides nearest and furthest from the hinge and the weight is angled to form the hinge and is square in cross section and is held in place by a pin through the body of the wider arm.
