Description: Incomplete medieval gilded silver stirrup-shaped finger ring. The tall, pyramidal bezel has a square top which has a punched quatrefoil with an engraved line running from either side, between the petals. Two of these short lines run down the tall sides of the bezel and the other two run down the sloping edges towards the hoop. The hoop consists of a series of square bosses, each decorated with a similar quatrefoil (including the lines) and divided from its neighbour by two transverse ridges. Fragment of medieval copper alloy buckle frame comprising part of one side. There are the remains of three deep rabbets in the edge and on its front face two transverse grooves, both retaining part of two lengths of copper alloy wire. Very similar to an example from London in a context of c.1270 - c.1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, no. 443) and a fragment residual in a post-medieval context in Norwich (Margeson 1993, no.154). Extant length 22mm.
