A tubular weight made by the rolling of a rectangle of cast lead sheet of thickness 1.5mm, either around a former or around the selvedge of a net, secured by a butted join of its edges. The aperture has a diameter of 5mm. Patinated. Weights of this form have long been used to weight fishing tackle. A large collection was discovered in a late medieval boat near Blackfriars Bridge. Copper alloy hammer. Cast head of a small hammer with an eye or hole for the handle of diameter 9.5mm, a flat round striking face and a wedge-shaped back projection. The waisted part behind the striking face is facetted. The metal retains a grey tint suggesting the prominent presence of tin in the metal mix, and moulding lines along its sides. The finder kindly suggests that this non-ferrous object may have been used by a craftsman such as a jeweller. Lead seal. Kosher meat seal. Cast disc with a slot in one edge and a bifurcated slot in the opposite edge, to serve as a drawstring attachment. One side bears the stamped motif of a Star of David [or Solomon]. The other bears the numeral 350 in modern style. The metal retains its grey tint, suggesting a recent [20th-century] date. The iron is flattened, or a separate flat rove has been used, at the base of the object; it projects 9mm from the top. Gouged by adventitious impact and patinated. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410. Height: 56.8mm, Diameter: 41.5mm, Weight: slightly in excess of 500gmms; the finder kindly reports the mass as 1lb 2 ΒΌ ounces averdepois.

Lead probable spindle whorl. A very distressed annular object with a central aperture of diameter c.10mm; probably a biconvex whorl which has been either miscast or, more likely, melted. Encrusted and patinated. A biconvex form and, to the eye of faith, the ghost of pelleted decoration on one side, point to an affinity with early post-medieval whorls of biconvex form.
