A worn, clipped and modified Medieval silver penny of Edward IV, minted at York. Modified, possibly to form a coin brooch. Treasure case no. 2018 T18. Obverse: [hENRI]C DI GRA [ ]; Crowned bust facing with a bifoliate crown. Reverse: [ ]; Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant, quatrefoil at the centre of cross. The coin has two irregular holes, pierced at 4 o' clock and 9 o' clock on the obverse. The holes have been burred on the reverse. 14.2mm (diameter). Weight: 0.45g. DA=12:4.

A complete cast Copper alloy strap fitting. This item is classed as a strap loop or 'slider'. It dates to the Medieval period (late 12th-late 14th c.). The fitting is of trapezoidal form with a curved-top frame featuring a moulded barrel like design. Within the frame are two opposing, asymmetrical projections. It measures 19.91 mm long, 23.78 mm wide, 5.09 mm thick and weighs 3.21 grams. The frame exhibits numerous file marks. It is in a good stable condition with an even light green patina. Incomplete cast copper alloy cauldron leg, 91 long, 33 mm wide, increasing to 41.5 mm at the foot. It is 14 mm in thickness, flaring outwards to 19 mm at its bulbous foot, and weighs 259 g. The surfaces are pitted and abraded and the everted foot is severely worn so there is little of the base left. The front face is decorated with a single, moulded, central rib and the back face is flat. There are patches of burnt black organic material on the surface as a result of the food that dripped down the leg from the cauldron when it was in the fire. The leg resembles those of a 16th centur…

A complete cast lead standing weight. Trapezoidal in plan, sub-rectangular in profile and rectangular in section. Height 87.5 mm, width 36.5 mm tapering to 33.5 mm at the top, thickness 29 mm tapering to 17.5 mm at the top and weighing 704 g (1lb 8.8 oz). A circular suspension hole, slightly biconical, 9 mm in diameter, has been drilled 20 mm from the narrow top end. A Medieval or Post-Medieval two- or four-disc lead cloth seal with a privy or merchants mark. The object consists of two disc fragments joined back to back. The fragment at the front is the larger one and is irregular in shape. It retains part of a stamped design but none of it's original edge, having breaks and wear on all sides. The design has a long vertical with a horizontal cross bar at the top, the rest of the top is lost to the breaks. At the base the vertical splits into two conjoined Xs . Copper alloy hammer. Cast head of a small hammer with an eye or hole for the handle of diameter 9.5mm, a flat round striking face and a wedge-shaped back projection. The waisted part behind the striking face is facetted. The metal retains a grey tint suggesting the prominent presence of tin in the metal mix, and moulding lines along its sides. The finder kindly suggests that this non-ferrous object may have been used by a craftsman such as a jeweller. An early to middle Neolithic knife, dating from c. 3500-2900 BC. The object is a light to mid-brown coloured flint formed from a broad blade-like debitage flake. It is bifacially worked; however most of the removals are from the dorsal face. On the dorsal face there are large scars across the centre and at the edges the retouch is long, scaled, and low angled. The dorsal face is convex and the ventral face slightly concave. It measures 82.12 mm long, 41.89 mm wide and 11.79 mm thick. It weighs 48.5 grams.
