Record ID: LANCUM-6932FD
Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lancashire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Probably a Post Medieval copper alloy weight. The object is circular in plan and one face is concave. Possibly an imitation of an official trade weight. The marks usually found on such weights are missing from this example and this also makes it difficult to assign a period of manufacture. Probably dates to between c1500 and c1800 AD, but could well be earlier. The diameter is 36mm and the weight 23.92g.

Object type: KEY (WINDING)
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lancashire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Post Medieval copper alloy key probably for a barrel tap. There is a projecting tag near the wards which would be unusual for a barrel tap key so the possibility exists that it may have had some other function, for example, winding a clockwork mechanism. It has an oval bow. The terminal at the end of the shank has a small lengthways rectangular flange on either side and short projecting tab at the end that is curved back at an angle to the shank. Probably dates to between c1750 to c1900 AD.
The length is 47mm, width is 25mm and the weight 6.31g
