Object type: CORE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mesolithic blade core of partially recorticated light grey/brown flint with some white inclusions. In the form of a narrow pentagon in plan and trapezoidal in section, with three broad facets to the dorsal face and a shallow bulb to the ventral. Probable loss at the distal end due to an old break. No retouch visible. Length 38.7 mm, width 20.3 mm, thickness 8.1 mm, mass 6.4 g.

Object type: BLADE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mesolithic blade formed on a secondary flake of grey/brown flint with white inclusions. In plan it is a narrow trapezium with a triangular profile. No retouch visible. Possibly debitage - a fault within the flint has caused a hinge fracture at one end. Length 21.4 mm, width 7.4 mm, thickness 4.4 mm, mass 0.7 g.

County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mesolithic snapped blade, formed on a tertiary flake of dark brown flint. In plan it is shield shaped, with a straight platform at the proximal end but with a part missing at the distal end which may be plough damage. There are three broad facets to the dorsal face and a shallow bulb and ripple marks to the ventral. No visible retouch noted. Length 23.9mm, width 19.3mm, thickness 3.8mm, mass 2.1g.

Object type: CORE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mesolithic blade core of opaque brown flint. In plan it resembles a rectangle with a corner missing, and it is kite-shaped in profile. The ventral face has a low bulb emanating from a platform at the proximal edge with cortex remaining, but it would appear to have been struck from both ends, as there are two facets. The dorsal face incorporates a fault within the flint which has left a prominent swelling arising from a flat facet; the swollen area has been reduced by the removal of three transverse bladelets, and there is some possible scaled abrupt retouch along the distal edge. …

Mesolithic core rejuvenation flake of opaque grey/brown flint, roughly triangular in profile with a striking platform at one end, with a curved profile and ripple marks to the ventral side, and three facets on the dorsal side, with a hinge fracture toward the proximal end which appears to indicate bipolar working. It has brown cortex remaining on the proximal end, and the distal end has possible invasive retouch - as the tip is missing due to a (probably recent, as not recorticated) break this is unclear. The struck surfaces are recorticated apart from a couple of places along th…
