A Medieval silver coin: a Scottish long cross and stars first coinage penny of Alexander III (AD 1249 - 1286), dating from about AD 1250 - 1280. Probably Type IV minted by Simon at Ayr. Spink number 5044. It is 17.5mm in diameter and 0.8mm thick. it weighs 1.34gm.
