Pottery. German stoneware. A small sherd from the wall of a stoneware vessel with a translucent blue glaze externally. The edtge of a stamped medallion with a cabled border and a possibly floral motif appears on the outer side. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800. Weight: 3.51gms

Pottery. Sandy fabric with an oxidised outer margin and a partially reduced core, probably a North Lincolnshire sandy fabric; handle sherd. The handle was probably of lentoid section. The lack of any trace of glaze may commend a relatively early date, though the sherd is fiercely abraded. This sherd was kindly examined by Wallace Collyer of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. Suggested date: Medieval, 1150-1250. Weight: 36.48gms

A ceramic wheel thrown sherd possibly from a Roman colour coated fineware vessel likely dating c. AD100-400. Description: Sherd is irregularly shaped has an orange fabric with fine sparse inclusions of quartzite. The surface have a highly abraded dark brown slip. The inner and outer faces are slipped suggesting the fragment comes from an open vessel such as a bowl, plate or wide necked jug. The sher is broken in two down its central length, broken front/back. Measurements: 26.84mm high , 27.34mm wide, 4.7mm thick and 4.3g in weight.

A fragment of Roman ceramic tile with Procuratorial stamp dating from AD 80-120. The fragment of tegula or brick has the impression of a stamp that when complete would have read P.PR.BR within an ansate frame, this is a type 2485.10 stamp, similar stamps are depicted in Collingwood (1993:39 xii and xvii). Only the last two letters of the stamp, 'BR' remain. The full stamp would have read P(rocuratores) PR(ovinciae) BR(itanniae). Betts (1995:207) writes "Another stamp (Die 10) must have been in use for a considerable period as certain examples show distinct signs of wear." There were 4…
