A complete flint Arrowhead of Bronze Age date (2500-1200 BC). The object is a barbed and tanged form and is sub-triangular in plan and concavo-convex in section. The object has two sub-triangular notches removed by pressure flaking, on the proximal edge. The notches create a sub-rectangular tang, projecting between them. Object type: RING
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A worn and corroded cast copper-alloy ring or belt fitting, probably dating from the Roman to medieval periods. The ring has a sub-square cross section with a pronounced moulded rib around the outer central circumference. The surface of the ring has suffered corrosion and only a small area of the original surface remains - the colour of this, and the shape of the ring, suggests a date from c. Roman to medieval, c. AD 43-1500.

Object type: FURNITURE FITTING
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete and damaged cast copper-alloy furniture fitting or mount, of probable Roman date. The mount is undecorated and is hollow with an integral and quite substantial shank. It is likely that this stud adorned a box or casket or other small item of furniture. Its general appearance is reminiscent of Roman metalwork and a similar example is noted in Oldenstein (1976: no. 490) and also SF-F65B87 and SF-E41E05 on this database. This suggests a possible Roman date for the current object, although a later date cannot be ruled out entirely.

A post-medieval cast lead powder measure cap, probably dating to the 17th century. The cap has been crushed, with one side flattened pressed in and towards the other. The top appears to have originally been almost circular in plan, however on the side that has been flattened, just less than half of the top surface has been sheared off, most probably by the plough. The remains of one attachment loop is present on the surviving part. On the flattened side of the cap a vertical casting seam is visible. Dimensions: height 15.2 mm, length 29.4 mm, width 12.4 mm, diameter (top of cap) 20…

Object type: SPOON
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper-alloy white-metal coated spoon, dating to the Roman period. The bowl is damaged but much survives. Although incomplete, the bowl would have been piriform or pear-shaped, and is offset, with an elaborated junction which is C-shaped when viewed in profile. Similar to database records WMID-F70F42, BH-F10251, and NARC-9B1532 and to silver examples in the Hoxne Hoard of coins and metalwork buried in the 5th century, however pear-shaped bowls had appeared by the first half of the second century (Crummy 1983, p.69). Suggested date: AD 150-409.
