A medieval copper alloy key for a small lock, probably on a casket dating to the period c. AD 1100 - 1500. The key has an oval bow formed of a loop which thickens on both sides towards the shank. The shank has a broadly oval cross section with flattened sides, and a simple rectangular ward.

A near-complete copper alloy Roman nail cleaner of Baldock Type dating from the first or second century AD. The nail cleaner has a slender leaf-shaped blade which narrows to a long tapering tip, the end of which (with the bifuricated tip) is broken and missing. The nail cleaner has a suspension loop set perpendicular to the blade which extends from the blade's rounded shoulders. There is no visible decoration. Dating from c. AD 43-200.

An incomplete copper alloy 'amphora-shaped' strap end of Late Roman dating to c. AD 250 to 410. The strap end is in fair condition possibly missing the lower section or tip and some of the reverse plate, which may have been silvered. Just below the top end of the strap, the usual 'handles' of the amphora-type strap end are, in this case, open crescents. There is no other decoration. One rivet is retained in the head. This strap end may have had a nail cleaner terminal as the rounded terminal has slight bifid moulding but both back and front plates respect the terminal.

A complete cast copper-alloy Roman nail-cleaner with semi-circular notches at the neck Sub-group C dating to c. AD 50-200. Crummy Type 2a. The strap end has a suspension loop at the top, a short neck with crudely incised linear decoration and shoulders that taper down to a bifid tip. A vertical incised line is the only decoration on the main body of the nail cleaner. Probably part of a cosmetic set.

A complete cast copper-alloy Roman nail cleaner dating to the late Roman period (c. AD 250-410). The nail cleaner has a suspension loop at the top and a short neck. From the thin shoulders the leaf-shaped blade tapers from the middle of the body to a parallel stem with bifid terminal. There is decoration on upper portion of of the main body which consists of an incised saltire with double linears above and below. The reverse is undecorated.

A Roman drop handle of rolled copper-alloy dating to c. 50-409. The terminals are still hooked and the surface is worn. A utilitarian component this example has no decorative mouldings. Depth of 'drop' is 25.6mm. Drop handles were used as carrying handles or drawer handles on a wide variety of pieces of furniture in the Roman period, most commonly on wooden boxes and chests (Crummy 1983:81 nos. 2137, 2142), but also on gridirons and wooden tubs (Hanemann 2014, Abb. 55, 81).

An incomplete cast copper-alloy decorative mount or stud dating to the Roman period, c. AD 100-300. The mount is bell-shaped with a small integral raised boss in the centre. The remains of an iron shank can be seen on the underside of the mount.
Fittings such as these are usually described as lockpins or furniture studs and are discussed by Allason Jones (1985) and again by Allason-Jones and McKay (1985, Coventinas Well, A shrine on Hadrians Wall).
