This type of Romano-British pottery was in production through the Roman occupation of Britain, from 1st to 4th Centuries (1 - 400AD). The object is sub-rectangular in plan with two sections comprising a square section, which is 13.7 x 15.5, followed by a rectangular extension which is 9.5mm maximum width and tapers inward to 6.8mm width, and is 24mm long. The broken end of the square section is slightly convex. The object is flat and seems to have decoration on one side. A complete cast copper-alloy thimble dating to the Post-Medieval period, c. 1550-1600. It is somewhat squashed in post-depositional damage, though survives completely intat. It demonstrates an originally circular base, with high sides and a flattened circular top. The latter are decorated with ten courses of hand stamped shield-shaped dimples, with a makers mark of a fleur de lis visible at the beginning of the first row. An incomplete copper alloy early medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) strap end. The object consists of three sections - a flattened, wedge-shaped split end to accommodate the strap, a zoomorphic terminal in the same plane as the wedge and an openwork tongue sitting at a right-angle to the terminal. The strap end has a narrowed neck and small shoulders which run into broadly parallel sides, with a strap split that runs almost the entire length of the surviving object. Linear and dot decoration and transverse scores across the neck section. There is a singular copper rivet through the head end. This may be a damaged example of a nail-cleaner strap-end, a category of artefact discussed by Eckardt and Crummy (2006), although if so it is a large example of the type. An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap end dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. Only one plate of the strap end survives, the opposing plate and internal spacer missing in old damage. It is broadly rectangular in plan, demonstrating a slightly scalloped upper edge that tapers to a flat plain terminal. There is a single circular rivet hole at each end of the plate, which is additionally bent at an angle of c. 90 degrees at its tip. A complete lead-alloy spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1800. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. One surface is decorated with an irregular eight pointed star formed of raised lines.
