A bifacially flaked flint handaxe dating from the Lower Palaeolithic c.800,000-250,000 BC. Description: The handaxe is quite crude but is roughly pointed with a wide rounded butt. It has been bifacially worked, with flaking cover both sides, this has been uneven however leaving one side much thicker than the other and the thinner side being slightly concave. Heavily white patinated rounded Flint Scraper Mid Mesolithic to Neolithic - 9500 - 3500 BC.. Semi abrupt re-touch that extends roughly 75% round the sides. Retouch varies from short semi-abrupt to invasive scaled semi-abrupt. Cortex along one edge. The flatter underside of the object has two round rust coloured markings plus one smaller same within the white patina. The scraper is round but with a flattened area 22.43mm long. 41.17mm tall from the flattened area and 42.7mm diameter across the remainder. 13.81mm thick,weighs 26.38g.
