Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 4a or 4b, c.f. Mackreth Type 4a or 4b, Plate 46, AD c. 75-400. The copper alloy brooch has semi-cylindrical incomplete wings with a trace of a perforated wing cap. The axis bar, spring and pin are missing. At the centre of the upper edge of the wings there is a trace of an integral hook. The bowhead is hump-like in profile and is undecorated. There are mouldings on the side of the bow head. The bow is D-shaped in section and tapers to a blunt broken terminal.

Late Iron Age to early Roman (c. AD 25 to c. 60) Colchester One-Piece brooch: The copper alloy has wings which are formed by a horizontal rectangular bar which are triangular when viewed from above. On the reverse of the wings, integral to the upper edge is a rectangular protrusion which is broken, but not recently. A complete copper alloy casket key of post-medieval (16th century) date. The key has a kidney shaped bow with two internal projections located above the shank. The shank is oval in cross section and has a raised collar of the same shape between the bow and the shank. The bit of the key is a simple rectangular projection a little way above the narrowed pin at the end of the shank. These are casket keys dating from c. AD 1500-1600. Similar examples can be seen in Read (2001:73), especially nos. 564 and 566.

A complete Medieval to post medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle, AD.1350-1650. The loops are oval with slightly widened outer edges. The buckle has bevelled sides to the outer frame and strap bar; the frame widens from the front to the back. The pin is still in place and made from a piece of folded copper. The frame measures 39.00 mm in length and 27.61 mm in width and is 3.27 mm thick. It weighs 9.3 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (page 53, No.294) which he dates to c.1350-1650 AD
