A fragment of a copper alloy Roman finger ring. Only the outer section of the ring - the bezel and shoulders - survive. The bezel has a raised oval setting in the centre of its outer face. All of the hoop itself is now missing and the breaks are well worn. The outer face of each shoulder is decorated with a raised knop to either side behind the bez…

Broad period: ROMAN

A complete lead medieval or post-medieval weight or spindle-whorl. It has a flat base and domed, eight-sided outer face. There is a wide circular hole through the centre, which sits slightly off-centre. The surface of the metal is corroded. The object is more likely to have functioned as a weight than a spindle whorl as irregular in shape. Due to its simple form only a broad Roman to post-medieval date range can be suggested. Diameter: 9.81mm, thickness: 9.97mm, weight: 23.61g
