A complete post-medieval copper-alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600 - 1800). The rectangular suspension loop at the top is c.11mm high, 14mm wide, 3.5mm thick and has an irregular inverted 'U'-shaped aperture. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided by a prominent horizontal circumferential joining rib. At either side of the suspension loop, about half way down the side of the upper hemisphere, is a circular sound hole. Two sound holes in the lower hemisphere are integral with a sound 'slit'. 10th century Anglo-Scandinavian copper alloy stirrup mount. The mount is square in plan with an arched top which is broken at the apex. The mount has a flange at the base which extends at right angles to the rear. The mount has a narrow border which extends all around the outer edge. Within the arched top appears to be Odin's Raven with head to the left pecking at the ground and tail to the right. Beneath the ravens body is a small square within a square. An Incomplete medieval lead bulla of pope Sixtus IV (1471-1484): half of the original bulla survives, broken (as often with papal bullae) along the central line that originally contained the thread attached to the document. Half of the normal design of St Paul and St Peter are visible on the obverse, and the legend in three lines is on the reverse: "[SIX]TUS [P]PAE [II]II" Part of the slot through the centre or the bulla, through which the cord attaching it to the document would have passed, is visible. An incomplete copper-alloy probable lock-pin of Roman date. The pin survives as a flat, circular disc, decorated with a circumferential groove. From the upper surface of the disc there extends the remains of a rectangular lug which appears to be broken close to the main body. From the underside of the disc, there extends a convex base. The base is decorated with a circumferential rib and a central raised cicular moulding. The pin measures 17mm in length and a maximum of 22mm in diameter at the base. It weighs 23.92g. Lead spindle whorl of probable medieval date. In the form of a flat disc weighing 33.0g, of 26.5mm diameter with a centrally located straight-sided 9.5mm aperture, and a thickness of 9.5mm. The item is completely covered in grey-white patination. The whorl conforms to Walton-Rogers form B, and therefore probably dates to c.900 - 1100AD.
