A possibly clipped Medieval silver halfpenny of Henry VI (1422-1461), minted at Calais. Initial mark: cross IIIb. Rosette-Mascle issue, 1427-1430 (North 1991: 76, ref: 1454). Obverse: hEnRIC (rosette) REX (mascle) AnG[ ], Crowned bust facing. Reverse: [VI]L/ (mascle) LA/CAL/ (mascle) IS[ ], Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant. Diameter: 13.0mm. Weight: 0.41g. DA=12:8. North, J.J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume II, Edward I to Charles II, 1272-1662. Spink & Son, London.
