A complete copper alloy rotary casket key of Medieval date. The bow is cicular and attached to the shank just above the mid-point. The shank is sub-rectangular in section and has a cyclindrical end. The bit is relatively simple in form, it is sub-rectangular with a small square cleft cut out on either side. The key is light green in colour. The key is 35.5mm long, 12.1mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 4.5 grams. A complete medieval lead circular seal matrix dating between 1200 - 1350. The front of the matrix comprises a central design of an incised cross with leaf like arms, a central dot all within a circular border dividing it from the legend.. Around this is engraved the inscription which clearly reads "+S'.IOhIS:FIL:IOh" (Seal of John son of John). The initial cross takes on the form of 5 pierced dots. An incomplete post medieval to modern lead cloth seal c.1600-1850. The seal consists of one of the two discs which would have connected via a tab. The top edge is worn and broken and possible the point where the connecting tab was.. The disc is decorated on one side with a smaller disc which appears to have had a beaded edge which is now worn. in the centre is the raised initials W. The reverse is undecorated. The seal is a greyish white colour. The seal measures 16.4mm diameter, 3mm thick and weighs 3.5 grams. Other similar cloth seals on the database have been recorded dating…
