Obverse; arms of the City of Norwich (castle over lion passant left) Reverse; legend, A/NORWICH/FARTHING/1670 in four lines Farthing trade tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following later. They were finally suppressed under Royal Authority in 1674.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap-end dating to the late Early Medieval period, c. 950-1100. It corresponds to Thomas' class E, type 1b (Winchester style tongue-shaped strap-ends with an average ratio of width to length of 1:2, depicting foliate designs). It is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and section, tapering along its length. A complete medieval copper-alloy one-piece hollow-cast sub-rectangular socketed strap-end with pierced decoration. At the terminal there is a thickened transverse bar. Both faces of the object have almost triangular piercings with one on each side at opposing corners of the attachment end being smaller and circular, possibly for fixing rivets. Two fragments from a copper alloy open mouthed bell. Enough of the larger fragment remains for an accurate estimate to be made of the diameter at the mouth of 94mm. The larger piece is 78.0mm wide and the smaller 27.5mm. Both fragments have three closely-spaced circumferential ribs at the junction of the slightly thickened and everted 15mm wide rim with the body. The object has a bluey-green sheen, probably indicative of a higher tin content in the alloy. The two fragments were found in close proximity, within 10 metres. An incomplete cast copper-alloy pin originating from an annular buckle of Medieval date, c. 1200-1400. One end demonstrates a broken open loop which would have fitted around the original buckle frame. Directly in front of this loop are a pair of thick moulded transverse ridges on the upper surface of the buckle pin (sub-rectangular in section), which tapers down its length to a blunt point. A complete cast copper-alloy buckle and plate dating to the Early-Medieval period, c. 600-850 AD. The buckle itself is 'D' shaped, with a circular-sectioned frame and wound copper-alloy pin surviving intact as it wraps around the strap bar.
