An incomplete, cast, copper alloy spur from c1600-c1700. The artefact consists of the heel band only. The band is plain and badly mishapen due to a crush and both its terminals are missing. The neck has snapped off leaving just its oval stump on the heel band. The heel band tapers down in both thickness and cross sectional width towards its terminals. It is an half oval in cross section with the flat face on the inside. Length 43mm, width 35mm. Weight 13.4g.

Medieval sheet copper alloy annular framed brooch. The thin and flat frame is constricted on both edges for a missing pin. The reverse is tin-coated and the front is decorated with an engraved line around the inner edge and a ring of small punched impressions, round and ovoid. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Colchester 'one-piece' brooch of late Iron Age or early Roman date, likely c.15 BC - AD63. The head is 13.5 mm wide and is formed by two side extensions that are semi circular in form being concave at the rear. There is an integral forward facing chord hook on the top of the head where the spring assembly would have once fitted. The body, which is 34.6 mm in height and semi-circular in cross section, tapers evenly to the foot which is now bent at 45 degrees half way down. An incomplete 17th-century copper alloy oval clasp-half, probably a hook-piece but the blunt hook is now missing. The oval plate is decorated with an engraved fleur-de-lis. The top of the plate is pierced through, suggesting a modification after an original end loop broke away. On each side is a projection, also pierced. Surrounding and decorating the inner edge are small circular and semi-circular circles. Similar to Read 2008, 171, nos. 643-644.

Two incomplete Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy hooked tags, early 8th - 11th century: - sheet, sub-triangular, two attachment holes, tinned on both surfaces, hook missing and all edges damaged. Extant length and width 10.4 and 11mm. Thickness 0.5mm. - cast, triangular, point of hook and all of the upper edge (i.e. base of triangle) missing, along with the attachment holes. Decoration comprises an engraved line down both sides and punched ring-and-dots (nine are extant). Extant length and width 25 and 13.5mm. Thickness 1mm.

An aluminium dog tag of a serviceman of the United States Army, dating from c AD 1943 onwards. It is oblong with rounded ends and is bent back for about one third of the length. It has been stamped with 'HENRY P COALSON'; on the second line '32146108 T42 43 O'; on a third line 'P'. Possibly one half of two. The numbers refer to Coalson's military ID, his training dates (T42 = 1942), and his blood group ('O'). Henry Coalson was born in 1909 in Virginia and enlisted with the United States Army as a private on 21st April 1941. Unfortunately the tag was not donated to the museum as requested.

Bent and distorted probably post-medieval copper alloy staple, an elongated lozengiform sheet bent near mid-point and before one pointed end. The other end is missing. It has been suggested that an object of this type "may have served as a light havette or 'shearman's clip', to hold cloth in the later stages of its processing." (NLM-7449613). Length (unbent) c.44mm. Width 15mm. Thickness 0.4mm. c.1500 - c.1750.

A post-medieval, 18th century silver thimble. The thimble is a conical shaped dome. The upper half is machine stamped with a regular stamped pitted pattern and shows damage in the middle of the pattern in the form of a 3mm diameter hole. The lower half of the wall is occupied by three plain grooves forming two finely billeted bands both of which bear a machine stamped pattern of closely spaced circular pits. The thimble is lightly dented.. Measurements: Diameter: 13mm, Height: 18.5mm, Thickness (wall): 0.2mm, weight: 1g.
