Copper alloy medieval book clasp of folded sheet type, Howsam type A.8.1. It is sub-rectangular, recessed symmetrically from either side at the fold to form a central end loop. There is a central circular peg hole, and a rivet hole halfway between this and the open end, with a part-extant rivet in place. There is a third hole on the reverse plate only, flanking the central hole. This tankard is cast in one piece and has an integral foot-ring or pedestal base. The rim is incomplete and most of the handle is missing due to breaks. The edge of the mouth is bent and the sides are parallel. There is a casting seam on the same alignment as the stubs of the handle. A fragment of Roman (AD 43-410) ceramic box flue tile. The fabric is sandy and oxidised an orange colour and has the typical combed or rolled parallel lines/cross hatching to one face to improve the adhesion of wall plaster. The other side is plain. Measurements: 83.85mm long, 51.55mm wide, tapering to 18.8mm wide. 17.43mm thick. Weighs 80g Box flue tiles were used to create flues in the walls of building through which hot air, generated by the hypocaust system would pass. Post Medieval copper alloy coin weight, struck in Amsterdam for the an unidentified coin. The weight is square with bevelled sides. On one face bears an hand (the mark of Amsterdam) with the letters R and I set either side of it and a V below, all set within a pelleted ring. The reverse also bears a pelleted ring but all detail of the design is lost. The initials mark the name of an unidentified maker who, other finds suggest was working during the 1580s (BERK-959FEA). A cast copper-alloy single loop D-shaped buckle fragment with moulded decoration. The solid D-shaped fragment has lost its strap bar. It is crudely shaped on one side only to resemble ropework but the thickness of the casting diminishes and thickens again, varying quite considerably in its shape. Circa 1450-1550. Similar examples are shown in Whithead "Buckles 1250-1800" page 25. 36.94mm wide, 25.14mm high, 2.97mm thick weighs 4.69grammes.

A cast copper-alloy single loop oval buckle. The solid round barrel has straight ends, is decorated on the face with grooved lines, plain on the reverse but with a recess to the underside to take the pin, which is not present. The sides have a knop where they join the underside of the barrel and a knop at each end of the strap bar (although one side has been lost). Circa 1250-1400. Similar examples are shown in Whithead "Buckles 1250-1800" page 21. Barrel measures 17.7mm long, 4.97mm thick. 23.58mm wide 18.47mm high, weighs 4.23grammes.

Incomplete Roman bone needle, AD 50-410. The needle has a flat spatulate head with a rectangular eye. The needle is almost complete missing its tip. The bone itself has taken on a dark brown patina due to the deposition environment. This is a Crummy type 2 needle similar to No.1982 Crummy (1995:66-67). Similar needles on the database are LON-62C774, BM-A20720 and BM-A1EE8B. Dimensions: length: 79.21mm; width of head: 6.18mm; weight: 1.75g Crummy, N. 1995. Roman (late 3rd - 4th century AD) bracelet fragment: The artefact is a terminal of a penannular bracelet or armlet. The terminal is sub-oval in section, expanded in width and decorated with three grooves and ridges. The oval shape has two flat surfaces and a rounded one, on which is the decoration. The bracelet narrows and tapers to a broken edge, but the break is not recent. The surface of the bracelet has a dark green, well-developed patina which is slightly abraded.
