Fragment of Roman colour coated fine ware pottery, 2nd-4th century, AD 150-400. The body is a white fabric with barbotine decoration drawn on to the exterior surface. This is a fragment of a Roman hunt cup. The sherd has a black slip coating on both the exterior and interior similar to that used in Nene Valley and Rhine Valley pottery industries. The exterior decoration is part of a body of an animal in barbotine slip, possible a hound or a hare. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative 'T'-shaped brooch (AD 50-150). The pin, part of the wings and part of the catch-plate are missing. This hinged brooch has cylindrical wings and the bow is decorated with enamel. The wings have vertical parallel ribbing at the front and enclose an iron axis bar.
