Gilt copper alloy early medieval buckle plate dating from the 13th-14th century. The buckle plate is rectangular with two rivet holes on the right and two (possibly curved) lugs to the left. It was probably made from a folded over sheet of metal, but we have no image of the reverse or side view so cannot be certain. The obverse is decorated with griffin (body of a lion, head of an eagle) which suggests a high medieval date. If it was earlier, the beast would appear more stylised and less realistic. The griffin is shown walking right with the long tailed curved backwards over its…

An incomplete copper alloy Colchester or Colchester derivative brooch dating from the early Roman period, that is the 1st or early 2nd century.
Most of the body and the wings survive, but the catchplate, pin and spring/hinged mechanism are missing.
