A complete knapped flint flaked axe of Neolithic date, c. 4500-2500 BC. The axe fits into Clough's schema (see Clough et al. 1979) as a 'thin butted' example (his type B), but is notable in being of extremely large size when compared with most other examples. Manufactured originally on an extremely large flint flake of greyish colouration with large fossil inclusions, the axe has now patinated somewhat and now demonstrates a fairly consistent off-white character interspersed with patches of mottled blue, brownish yellow inclusions, and post-depositional iron/manganese staining. A probable copper-alloy Roman nail-cleaner with exuberant neck decoration. The object has a flat-sectioned body which is of truncated-lozenge shape, with bands of decorative horizontal grooves at the top and bottom ends. In between these bands is a pattern of incised chevrons. This decoration covers both surfaces of the body. At the top of the object is a loop with rounded side and sub-circular perforation. An incomplete and worn cast gilt copper-alloy Early Medieval zoomorphic plate brooch in the shape of a horse (also known as a Pferdefibeln), of likely Merovingian Frankish origin or influence, c. mid 5th - mid 6th century in date (AD c.475-c.530 ). The brooch is flat and shaped like a horse with a its legs attached to a linear base. The brooch is circular and its front displays a five pointed star with knops to each point; these appear to be picked out in red enamel and the background with blue enamel. A post-medieval, square, copper-alloy, biface coin weight for a Spanish Escudo. The obverse of the weight shows a cross potent within a quadrilobe with three pellets in each quadrant and a pellet in each outside angle, all within a pelleted circle. The reverse shows an upright hand with a star below and the letters C and I beside it. Above the letters are two numbers depicting the date. There is a 5 to the right but the number to the left is illegible. This coin weight was produced in Antwerp by Cornelius Janssen and dates to between 1564 and 1604. An unfinished cast copper-alloy medieval harness pendant, dating to the period AD 1200-1400. It measures 41.36mm in length and 30.41mm in width, weighing 15.19g. The projecting loop which is offset 90 degrees from the harness pendant is undrilled. There is a central square element, from which projects four broadly circular knops.The main body of the harness pendant on the top side shows gilded cross hatching, but there appears to be no other decoration anywhere else on the harness fitting. An incomplete medieval copper alloy dome-shape stud or tack dating to AD1400 - 1530. This large stud takes the form of a moulded and engraved trefoil with a gilt top.
