A fragment of a Middle to Late Bronze Age gold ribbon strip (c. 1500 - 800 BC). Treasure case no. 2016 T279.
This fragment has been folded twice to form a rectangular shape. The outer face is slightly worn and has twenty one longitudinal linear grooves with corresponding ridges forming corrugation. The visible end appears to have been chopped.
7.2mm (length); 16.0mm (width); 2.1mm (overall thickness); 20mm (estimated length if unfolded). Weight: 1.06g.

An incomplete post-Medieval or Modern copper-alloy button (c. 1820-c. 1912).
This button is circular in plan, dished at the front and slightly convex at the back. The front has a raised representation of a bearded male figure facing with a milled-like border at the edge. The rear face has the stub of an attachment loop and a maker's name: CHARLES JENNENS LONDON.
The front of the button has a white metal coating.

A lead-alloy plaque depicting a deity, probably Mercury, from a portable shrine or aedicula dating to the second or third century AD. The plaque depicts a naked male, missing his head but with drapery over his left shoulder and a muscled torso. A club, torch (or caduceus) rests against his left arm. The drapery is rendered on the underside of the plaque where it falls from the left shoulder down the male's back and appears to be draped over his elbow. A copper-alloy fragment, resembling a vine leaf and probably dating to the Roman period. The fragment comprises a flat, copper-alloy plate, shaped like two segments of a vine leaf, with a stem between. Each of the segments is decorated with a series of curved grooves, a marginal groove and the stem is marked out by two parallel grooves. From the area of the stem there extends a hemispherical section lug. This is distorted and broken. A post-medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle dating to c. 1550-1650, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. The pointed-oval shaped frame is complete. Its outer edges are pointed and have moulded decoration of rosettes; further moulded scrolled decoration decorates the rest of the front of the frame. The pin bar is narrowed with moulded half-rosettes at either end; corrosion product at its mid point may suggest the loss of an iron pin.
The frame measures 42.85 mm long, 25.59 mm wide, 2.69 mm thick and weighs 6.3g.

Medieval rectangular sheet copper alloy plate of a folding strap clasp with a single rivet and with part of the bar of a probably composite frame within the fold. The front is engraved transversely with, from the fold, a single line, XIX, two double line flanking a plain space, XIX, single line. Length and width 25 and 12.5mm. Mid 14th - mid 15th century.

Probably medieval sheet copper alloy unidentified object: a square plate with concave sides and an incomplete backward facing hook. The front is decorated with an engraved circle in the centre surrounded by four punched dots. There is a further punched dot in the corners flanking the hook while those in the opposite corners pierced through the metal and may have been for attachment. No parallel has been noted. The plate measures 10.5 x 10.5mm. Overall length 16.7mm. Perhaps 15th century.

Incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative Rearhook brooch with the spring, the pin, part of the rearhook, all of my wing, the lower end of the bow and all of the catchpate missing.
