Roman rim sherd; wheel thrown ceramic vessels. The sherd is a rim sherd, of a fabric similar to, or what is known as Severn Valley ware. This type of pottery was produced throughout the Roman Period, in the Severn Valley area, and typically consisted of jars, jugs, flagons, bowls and tankards. The rim is from probably a jar with an everted rim, such as those illustrated in Webster (1976), Figure 4. No. 18. It weighs 40.67g. The diameter of the rim is c. 175mm.

Medieval or Post Medieval (12th to mid 19th centuries) probable cooking vessel leg: In plan the leg is a sub-rectangle. The lower half is solid, with a vertical triangular rib on the outer face, and is sub-trapezoidal in section. A fragment from a cast copper alloy fitting, probably from a later Early-Medieval / Anglo-Scandinavian harness, either a bit link or cheek piece. The fragment consists of an oval loop with a bar attached to one side. The loop is a quarter circle in cross section, with the rounded edge from the front to the outer edge. The bar is 'D' shaped in cross section with a rounded face and a flat rear. The bar bulges outwards slightly to form a boss at the end furthest from the loop. Beyond this is a well abraded, old break where the link would have attached to the rest of the fitting.

An incomplete copper alloy post medieval hooked tag with a circular body, dating to c.1500 to 1650 AD. The hook is now completely missing. The circular body is convex and very corroded, but decorated with a double rose, probably with five petals, moulded in relief. There is a simple trapezoidal loop. It has a grey/green patina., is 21.42mm long, 15.47mm in diameter and weighs 1.92g. Read's class E, type 3; compare Read 2008, 95, nos. 342-6. A similar comparison on the PAS database is SUR-C203EC.
