Incomplete Roman tin-coated copper alloy Colchester Derivative Hinged brooch with an iron axis bar. Most of the pin and the edge of the catchplate are missing. There is a narrow groove near the outer ends of the wings. The upper part of the D-section bow is decorated with knurling, now very faint, and two wide flanking two narrow longitudinal grooves. A Post Medieval copper alloy vessel component in the form of a bird or eagle, dating from AD 1725 - 1800. The figurine is in the form of a bird in flight with a square tail, pointed beak and wide, flat wings. Unusually, there is no evidence of attachment. It has a patchy black and bright green patina over reddish metal. It is 35.6mm long, 26.8mm wide and 7.8mm thick. 10.3g. Nine inconsistently placed radial hour lines are visible. The block measures 24.5 x >14.7 x 13.3mm. Lime mortar remains on parts of three non-engraved faces. Very little of a fourth face is extant. The seal matrix has a hexagonal die and a hexagonally faceted handle which tapers up to an expanded collar connected to a lozenge-shaped suspension loop. Overall, the seal matrix measures 21.1mm long, 15.4mm wide and 15.4mm thick. It weighs 6.32g. The die is engraved with a central motif which is very hard to identify.
