Mottled flint with cortex core fragment. Pyramidal core fragment with long parallel flakes removed by unidirectional working. The striking platform was originally defined by the striking of a broad flake at right angles to the subsequent working. The core may have been abandoned when it split. The lack of patina save at the edge of cortex may suggest this object was promptly incorporated into a sealed context. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC. Height: 25.2mm, Width: 30.5mm, Thickness: 19.2mm, Weight: 10.84gms.
