The head comprises two sub-square sectioned collars separated by a short round-sectioned length and, below the lower collar, a small moulding in the form of a cushion capital. An incomplete copper alloy single loop D shaped buckle, dating from the Medieval period (c. AD1250 - c. AD 1500 Whitehead, R., 2003 Buckles 1250-1800 Chelmsford : Greenlight Publishing, Plate number 42) The buckle consists of a single loop D-shaped frame,the pin is missing presumed lost in antiquity. The frame is decorated with incised oblique lines. There is a groove for the pin to sit on the upper surface of the leading edge of the D, the outside edges on the front of the buckle are bevelled, and the inside edge of the D is bevelled on the reverse. Post-medieval copper alloy double-looped buckle frame, both loops oval, with a lobe at the ends of the bar and a crudely moulded rosette in the centre of the edges. There are traces of black-letter coating. A small area of rust on the bar probably derives from a pin. One loop is distorted. The form is comparable with Whitehead 2003, no. 408. An example from Camber Castle was found in a context dated 1543-1637 (Biddle et al. 2001, 260, fig. 7.2 no. 27). Length c.48.5mm. Width 27.4mm. c.1550 - c.1650. Field JG3

A copper alloy double sheet, tongue-shaped strap-end with a straight attachment edge and a knoped end. The two plates appear to be joined together by a single rivet hole at the attachment end, which retains a copper-alloy rivet to secure the strap.The flush fitting rivet is set centrally and has a diameter of 1.9mm and is .89mm in from the open end, The strap-end is undecorated.
