Medieval gilt copper alloy mount, probably from a harness or strap, rectangular with two large (4.5mm diameter) attachment holes and a line of closely spaced punched annulets along all four sides. A majority of the impressions are incomplete, with parts of the stamp having missed the edge. The object has been bent tranversely. Only a few specks of gilding remain. Length, width and thickness 35, 12.7 and 1.2mm. 12th - 13th century.

Medieval to post-medieval copper alloy handle attachment stud engaged with a fragment of the top and side of the handle of a chafing dish or possibly of a cupboard door, cf. Margeson 1993, nos. 489-90. The top horizontal arm of the handle is round-sectioned and the side heagonal. Length, width and thickness of stud 24, 15.5 and 9.5mm. 15th - 16th century.

Cast copper-alloy rectangular or slightly trapezoidal frame from a buckle or strap clasp. The outside edge is slightly longer than the bar, and is constricted for a sheet copper alloy roller or rotating end, which is missing. The top and bottom edges curve very slightly but do not have the moulded transverse ridges common on these buckles and clasps. There is no pin. 12.4mm x 9.96mm narrowing to 8.29mm at the bar. Weighs 0.72g.

The top of the rim is inscribed XII D This refers to 1 shilling (12 pennies) and not to a shillingweight. Diameter 15mm. Height 6.3mm. Weight 5.73g / 88.4 grains / 3.69 pennyweights. Between 1601 and 1816 the shilling weighed 92 grains (Withers and Withers 1995, 68). This weight dates towards the end of this period.

Cast, in one piece with moulded relief and openwork, nowincomplete, with hook broken off. A chequered lozenge (frequently interpreted as a pineapple or thistle but is more likely a pinecone) within an engrailed edge.

Roman copper alloy Dolphin type brooch of 1st century AD date.
The brooch is fragmentary, represented by the head and upper bow only. The brooch has a groove to accommodate the missing spring. The left wing is 8.71mm and the right wing measures 4.92. The centre bow has a raised ribbed section running laterally with two grooves each side and this centre bow extends across the groove where the spring is missing.

Fragment of cast copper-alloy single loop buckle frame consisting of the swollen outside edge, with a little of the rest of the narrow frame surviving. The swollen part is roughly cylindrical, with a central constriction forming two knops. There is a sheet copper-alloy roller still in place on the constriction, with a visible join where the two ends of the sheet butt up against each other. Medieval sheet copper alloy rectangular buckle plate with a pin slot, frame recesses, and five rivet holes, three retaining rivets with large large waisted heads, and lines of finely executed interrupted rocker-arm engraving giving the appearance of tiny addorsed triangles along the sides and inside edge. Cast copper-alloy double-loop asymmetric buckle, one loop rectangular and the other with outside edge outcurved externally, B-shaped internally. The rectangular loop's outside edge is shaped into two gentle curves with a point in the centre, and has a straight groove running along it. There is also a groove running along the outer edge of the curved loop, with a further V-shaped groove at the pin rest. Narrowed strap bar. Very smooth shiny surface, possibly tinned. 38mm x 29mm. Weighs 7.14g. Whitehead illustrates similar examples (2003, 91, nos. 570 and 571) which he dates to c. 1575-1700.

Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy strap end with a single rivet at the split end. The sides converge slightly from the attachment edge to two encircling grooves before a hemispherical terminal knop. A small part of one corner at the split end is missing. There is no waist so the piece does not fall within Thomas' Class D. It closely resembles examples from the East Riding (YORYM-3D8DE6) and Upwell, Norfolk (HER 29193, NMS-175DC1). Length 30.6mm. Width 7.2mm. Weight 4.24g. 9th - 10th century.
