An unlooped copper alloy Middle Bronze Age palstave axe with a pronounced hollow below the stop ridge. About 40% of the original surface survives and is very pitted. Grinding marks are visible in a patch on the blade. This is most likely to be a Primary Phase, Group I (unlooped), palstave with a shield-shaped depression below the stop ridge. The axe is of Middle Bronze Age date (1500 - 1300 BC) and is most probably associated with the Acton Park II and Taunton metalworking assemblages (Needham Period 5) - both assemblages fit within Burgess Metal Working Stage VIII and IX. A very worn gilded copper-alloy Medieval harness pendant of quatrefoil form. The pendant has a central lion in a rectangle with a blue enamel field, and four stylised fleurs-de-lis against a red enamel field. The left-hand lobe is extremely worn but the right-hand and lower lobes clearly had small points between the lobes. At the top is the suspension loop, pierced from side to side. A lead alloy handle from the lid of a Post Medieval tobacco jar or holder, dating from about AD 1600 - 1800. The handle knop is in the form of a three dimensional human head of African ethnicity. It has a rounded face with a wide flattened nose and thick lips, a short 'pudding basin' hairstyle which has been shaved high at the sides. Instead of a neck is a long shaft of circular section which is angled backwards. The metal has a brown patina and has suffered post depositional damage.
