A cast copper alloy, single loop sub-rectangular Medieval buckle of Meols type A, probably dating from 1350-1400 AD. The frame is of hexagonal section, being bevelled on both upper and lower faces. It exhibits file marks on all surfaces. The strap bar is narrower than the remainder of the frame and is square in section. There is a cast pin in situ looped around the strap bar. The pin is of square section with a moulded rectangular bar above the loop from where it tapers into a point. The buckle is tinned, has a grey-green patina with some corrosion present. Medieval cast copper alloy single looped buckle frame of sub-triangular form with rounded edges and a largely flat surface on the back. The centre of the outer edge projects forwards; one side of this projection is concave, the other convex and the sides flare outwards terminating in small knops and a slightly angled straight front edge. A lateral groove acts as a pin rest on the front face. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. Incomplete Late Iron Age to early Roman tinned copper alloy Langton Down brooch, with the outer ends of the spring housing, the lower parts of the pin and of the bow missing (the straightness of the bow shows this is not a Rosette). The bow tapers down to an old break and is decorated with three longitudinal lines of tin inlay within shallow grooves (for the use of tin inlay see Bayley and Butcher 2004, 45). Medieval or post-medieval head of a joiner's claw hammer. The socket for the handle is sub-rectangular but octagonal externally. The impact end of octagonal cross-section and its terminal is round and slightly convex. The bifurcated end is incomplete, with one prong missing. On both faces there are four V-section grooves, two on both sides of, and parallel with, the socket. Cf. NMS-D920F3, a much smaller example. Length 25.7mm. Width 73.7mm. Thickness (= diameter of impact end) 14.8mm. Weight 68.58g. 15th to 17th century.

Incomplete medieval gilt sheet copper alloy sexfoil mount with a central attachment hole. Only two petals remain. Both are slightly concave on the front, gilded face, while a round area at the centre is convex though flat immediately around the hole. To what this was attached is unknown, but the form of the centre suggests something such as a staff with a diameter of c.23mm. Estimated diameter 56mm. 13th - 15th century.
