Lilly Chitty Collection An Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead (2,500 to 1,500 BC), light grey in colour. This piece is sub-triangular in plan and sub-rectilinear in section. A comparatively coarsely-made piece to the other of these 10 (of which this is the last, with the number "10" written in biro on the ventral face), this piece is probably of the Beaker period, spanning the first few centuries of the Bronze Age. Lilly Chitty Collection A Bronze Age thumbnail scraper (2,500 to 800 BC), black in colour. This piece is sub-circular in plan and sub-triangular in section. The eighth of 10 pieces, this piece has the number "8" written in biro on a label stuck to the ventral face. This small scraper, made of high quality black flint, has been subjected to a substantial amount of weathering, and was probably found within the vicinity of a paleochannel, as it looks and feels water-worn. Incomplete copper alloy rectangular, gently bowed front plate of a medieval or post-medieval box padlock, one corner missing and with about one half of the keyhole extant. There are three rivet holes, one retaining part of a rivet. On the inside two short, straight 5mm-high projections are fixed into slots. They touch and lie in a T-shaped formation. Incomplete very large decorated copper alloy bar from an Early Saxon wrist clasp of Hines 1993 Form B13, B14 or B17. All is missing from one side of a central rectangular (an ancient break). On the other side a D-sectioned length is interrupted by two transverse ribs, both with median groove, and ends in an apparently plain, square, rectangular-sectioned boss. The central boss carries a Style I motif in counter-relief. The expanded flat-topped bezel is in the style of a signet ring with the very worn and corroded remnants of a design; possibly a cross pattee within a circle. Two fragments of an copper-alloy finger ring, with melted glass setting in imitation of an intaglio dating to the late second or third century . The fragments comprise most of the hoop, one shoulder and the bezel with its setting. An incomplete copper-alloy wrist clasp of Hines form B18c, dating to the sixth century AD. The clasp comprises a flat, rectangular bar, the upper surface of which is decorated with two grooves which run its length. Four openwork, flat circular plates with central indentations extend from the rear side of the bar; these have just broken through to the other side on both end discs. From the other, front edge, two fragmentary trapezoidal lugs are visible, the remains of a projecting catch. The clasp measures 36mm in length, 16mm in width and 2mm in thickness. It weighs 4.6g.
