An Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead (2,500 to 1,500 BC), light grey in colour.
This piece is sub-triangular in plan and sub-rectilinear in section. A comparatively coarsely-made piece to the other of these 10 (of which this is the last, with the number "10" written in biro on the ventral face), this piece is probably of the Beaker period, spanning the first few centuries of the Bronze Age. The one edge has been ripple-flaked quite neatly, whereas the other has not been - this could have been a utilised flake. The better-worked edge has a neater barb also, which tapers to a fine point, asymmetrically opposing the other barb which has been squared off. The tang is quite broad, and has also been roughly squared.
This piece weighs 1 gram, measuring 19.3mm in length, 18.1mm in width and 4mm in thickness.

A Late Neolithic oblique arrowhead (3,200 to 2,500 BC), grey in colour with some small lighter inclusions.
This piece is sub-triangular in plan and sub-rectilinear in section. The ninth of 10 pieces, the number "9" has been written in biro on the dorsal face. This arrowhead has been bifacially worked on all sides from a flake, with the tip missing, most likely broken off during its period in the soil as it is not a clean break. The thickness at the proximal end suggests that this end was hafted into the end of an arrow, with the distal end providing the piercing point.
This piece weighs 1.2 grams, measuring 20.9mm in length, 14.2mm in width and 4.1mm in thickness.

A Bronze Age thumbnail scraper (2,500 to 800 BC), black in colour.
This piece is sub-circular in plan and sub-triangular in section. The eighth of 10 pieces, this piece has the number "8" written in biro on a label stuck to the ventral face. This small scraper, made of high quality black flint, has been subjected to a substantial amount of weathering, and was probably found within the vicinity of a paleochannel, as it looks and feels water-worn. Despite this wear, some rings of percussion are still visible on the dorsal face where flakes have been removed.
This piece weigh 1 gram, measuring 12.5mm in length, 13.4mm in width and 4.9mm in thickness.

Medieval to post-medieval writing lead, round-sectioned at the pointed end, square sectioned near the centre and flattened and widened at the other. Biddle 1990, Class II or III. Length 50mm. Maximum width 8mm. 12th - 16th century.
Writing leads like this follow the traditional shape of the earlier writing tablet styli, although it is unclear how effective a lead stylus would be for inscribing wax, and it seems more likely that they were used to make grey marks, as pencils. They are difficult to date as they have a long lifespan and examples of similar writing leads from Winchester ranged from 13th-15th century in date. However, it seems that some writing leads were also used in the post-medieval period and it is not inconceivable that this is later than medieval.

Incomplete very large decorated copper alloy bar from an Early Saxon wrist clasp of Hines 1993 Form B13, B14 or B17. All is missing from one side of a central rectangular (an ancient break). On the other side a D-sectioned length is interrupted by two transverse ribs, both with median groove, and ends in an apparently plain, square, rectangular-sectioned boss. The central boss carries a Style I motif in counter-relief. Most of the surfaces are covered in a dark material, which on the reverse and sides is quite uneven, almost lumpy, and perhaps the result of burning. There is no visible means of attachment. The object was probably soldered to the plate. An equally substantial bar has been recorded from Barton Bendish, Norfolk (HER 23934, NMS-414241). Extant width 31mm. Estimated width 50mm. Length 8.5mm. Thickness 4mm. Weight 6.83g. c.525 - c.550.

The plate is of trapezoidal cross-section, i.e. it is thick, wider at the rear and with chamfered sides. Transverse ribs on the sides flank the pin hole. From here the plate tapers past an off-centre rivet hole to a transverse rib beyond which is a slight swelling and then another rib next to the break. Extant length 31mm. Width of frame 14.5mm. Width of plate 9 - 7mm. Thickness 2.3mm. 13th - 14th century.
