Early Saxon or Middle Saxon gilt copper alloy mount, perhaps from a strap, comprising two square terminals with three slightly concave sides, both decorated with a quatrefoil in counter-relief, each leaf a pointed oval, and a central bar with a broad moulded groove at its centre, to one side of which there is a small patch of applied silver sheet. On the reverse of both terminals a pierced lug is set transversely. A very close parallel has been recorded from Mid Suffolk, but is in much less fresh condition and has round-sectioned projections on the reverse (SF-0D0A46). Length 32mm. Wi…
