Record ID: NLM-F06E7B
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Pale grey flint with cortex and cloudy white patches of patina Scraper. Flake with hard hammer flake removal from the dorsal side, a prominent bulb on the ventral, and short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect along one side of one end. A notch is the result of possibly later impact on the edge. The unpatinated state of retouch may suggest a flake was picked up and reused a significant period after its initial formartion. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-800 BC, Length: 40.2mm, Width: 26.9mm, Thickness: 10mm, Weight: 9.27gms

Grey flint of good quality, possibly collected from the East Coast. Scraper, with hard hammer trimming of the dorsal side and a prominent bulb on the ventral; short to invasive abrupt and angled retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows the curving edge. The lack of patina may suggest the incorporation of this object into a sealed context not long after its manufacture. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Grey flint with thick cloudy patina probable knife fragment. Flake with broad flake removal scars on its dorsal side and ripples on its ventral. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect along one edge interrupts the patina, as does probably adventitious damage which appears to continue it. Pale buff flint with thick white patina scraper. A flake of curved profile with broad parallel flakes removed from its dorsal side and with a bulb on the ventral. Thick patina is removed by short to invasive scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect. Grey semi-translucent flint of good quality with very slight cloudy patina debitage. Flake with four long parallel flakes removed from the dorsal side and a bulb on the ventral. Although retouch is discerned by the finder, this may arise from fortuitous impacts against edges. The good condition may indicate incorporation into a sealed context shortly after deposition. Pale grey flint debitage. Flake with a patch of thick creamy patina along one side, with broad flakes removed from its dorsal side and with a bulb on the ventral. The appearance of a point at one end arises from recent breakage. There is a tiny patch of possible abrupt retouch at one end - that opposite the point; like other working this interrupts a thick patina along one side. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-800 BC. Length: 30.8mm, Width: 17.9mm, Thickness: 7.3mm, Weight: 3.89gms.

Pale pink-grey semi-translucent flint leaf arrowhead, as kindly identified by the finder. Oval flake with covering angled retouch of both sides, probably with one side chipped. The extent of retouch and the slight angularity of the intact side may ally this to some of the trapezoidal points of the later Neolithic. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Grey flint with overall dense patina serrated implement. A bladelet or long flake with long parallel flakes removed from its dorsal side, a bulb on the ventral, and very short abrupt retouch along one side of the ventral surface forming a finely serrated cutting edge.
