Record ID: SF-AA85DD
Object type: QUERN
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment from a grey volcanic lava stone quern of uncertain date. Only part of one face survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn. The remains are sub-rectangular in form with a grinding face that has multiple parallel grooves. All edges terminate in old breaks. This quern measures 135.99mm in length, 128.90mm in width, 24.05mm in thickness, 602g in weight. The grooves on the quern are very large, perhaps suggesting it is a fragment from a Medieval millstone.
