A flint tranchet adze of probable Early Mesolithic date, c 9000-8000 BC . The implement is parallel-sided along most of its length, slightly tapering at the top. The adze is of irregular oval cross section. On either side of the axe the flake removal scars angle downwards from the broad, roughly defined central ridge. The removal of the transverse sharpening flake has created a steep, wedge-like blade. The surface of the flint is mottled, light grey to creamy-white in colour. A copper alloy Post Medeival dress fastening of probable 15th Century date. The fastener has a hemispherical head with twisted copper allloy wire, imitating thread, is wound around the raised three knobs to portray knots and loops. The reverse of the head is undecorated and has a separate shank that has been welded on with a white metal solder. A copper alloy object of uncertain function or date. The object is rectangular in plan with an irregular knop protruding from the lower edge. The object has a convex front surface and concave reverse. The edge of the reverse is flat and appears to have been designed to be mounted flat against another surface. It has not been possible to identify the function of the object but it is possible that it forms part of a strap end. No parallels have been found. The object is 22.2mm long, 11.2mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 3.11 grams.

A copper-alloy fragment, possibly of a late Roman strip bracelet dating from c. AD 250-410. The fragment is even in thickness at its broken ends; it is rectangular in plnand flat in cross section. There is a repeated stamped sideways "S" shape along the outside edge; 9 stamps visable. The fragment has been folded in half. The Fragmetn is For similar examples, see Worrell (Draft Roman Finds Guide), p.1. This example is unusually thick and chunky. The fragment is 26.1mm long, 7.2mm wide, 1.2mm thick and weighs 2.18 grams.

A complete copper-alloy lion-headed mount of Roman date. The artefact is circular in plan, its diameter gradually decreasing towards the top, in a series of clearly defined steps. At the base is a plain, almost vertical rim which is damaged in places. An incomplete lead steelyard weight of uncertain date. The weight is bi-conical with traces of iron corrosion at the opposing points ndicating an iron core. The metal is a mid greyish-brown colour and is worn. The weight is 23.8mm long, 27.7mm in diameter and weighs 74.62 grams. Lead steelyard weights are difficult to date with any certainty and are known to have been in use from the Roman to post-medieval period. While the majority with iron cores seem to be dated to the Roman period, without a secure archaeological context it is not possible to definitively date such objects.

A cast copper alloy stud of Post-Medieval date (c. 1500-1800 AD), possibly for use on upholstery. The stud is a pointed oval shape with a concave reverse. A square-sectioned attachment spike projects from the centre of the reverse of the stud and is 9.5mm long. The stud is undecorded. A similar example can be seen on the PAS database number: SUR-0AFE25, which suggests a dating of c. 1600-1800 AD. The stud is 17.9mm long, 8.5mm wide, 1.1mm thick and weighs 1.30grams.

A Medieval copper alloy buckle of c. AD 1250-1450. The buckle has a single loop annular frame which is faceted. There are signs of iron staining on the frame suggesting that the pin was made of iron. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, page 17 ref 35. The buckle is 33.3mm in diameter, 4.1mm wide, 3.5mm thick and weighs 9.77 grams.

A Post Medeival copper alloy buckle of c. AD 1500-1650. The bucle is a single loop sub-rectangular buckle with expaned splayed feet and has a narrowed off set pin bar. There are traces of iron on the pin bar suggesting that the pin was made of iron. The frame has concave sides and rounded front with a central lobed knop. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, page 28 ref 145. The buckle is 26.1mm long, 23.6mm wide, 3.5mm thich and weighs 3.75 grams.

A incomplete copper alloy Post Medieval buckle of c.AD 1550-1660 date. The buckle has a vessica shaped frame, half of which is broken away by an old break. The frame has cusped outside edge with three drilled perforations, one at the end and one on either end of the pin bar. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, page 69 ref 434. The buckle is 29.2mm long, 24.7mm wide, 1.9 thick and weighs 2.42 grams.

The shaft is faceted and tempers toward an old break . The surfaces have a light green patina and patches of corrosion The pin is 18.1mm long and weighs 1.25 grams. The head has a circumference of 6.2mm. Similar examples can be seen on the database: BH-287CE4 and SF-5C64BE.
