Cast copper alloy rim fragment from a bowl or cooking vessel with an internally bevelled rim that is triangular in profile and flush with the upper edge of the vessel. The body of the vessel curves downwards slightly to suggest a reasonably deep straight-sided bowl or a deep straight-sided everted rim, as seen on cauldrons, and the curvature of the rim suggests a diameter of about 280 mm. The bevelled rim itself is 5 mm thick which then tapers to the body which is 3.6 mm thick. FLO comment: The evidence for such stones having been used as pot boilers is limited, and it is possible that this is simply an accidentally burned stone.

A sub-ovoid piece of burnt flint, possibly used as a prehistoric pot boiler. The surface is a greyish white with a crazed surface consistent with the heating and rapid cooling of flint. A number of flint implements have been found in the immediate area dating from the Mesolithic: Neolithic and the Bronze Age. Length: 53.06 mm. Width: 36.51 mm. Thickness: 28.01 mm. Weight: 63 grams.

The handle is in the form of an elongated, crouching feline, probably a lion or panther, with front legs outstretched. An incomplete cowhide shoe, possibly a military boot dating to the late second or early third century AD. The shoe has been designed to be worn on the left foot. The shoe is swayed and very pointed. A cast copper-alloy stud or rivet of uncertain Roman or later date. It has a dome-shaped head that has flat back and rounded front face, which is slightly faceted around its edges. At the centre of the back face is an integral shaft that is square in section and tapers to a sharp point. The entire object has a dark brown patina with some pitting in places. It measures 11.98mm in diameter, 12.67mm in height, and 1.70g in weight.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double looped buckle frame of Post-Medieval date. One loop is mostly incomplete and the pin is missing due to old breaks. The surviving loop is oval in form and section, with an oval sectioned bar that has slight notches at each end separating the two frames. It measures 16.20mm in width, 14.45mm in length, 2.93mm in thickness, and 1.78g in weight. This buckle is of Post-Medieval date, c.16th-17th centuries AD.

A fragment of late early-medieval (1000-1100) copper alloy bridle cheek-piece of Williams Type 2. It consists of long tapering projection ending in a rounded knob, and at the other end extending into an openwork design of three narrower projections around two semi-circular holes. The breaks at each arm are worn and old.

A copper alloy early medieval strap end dating to the 9th century. The strap end has a debased head with the ears behind; the neck is slightly waisted. On the curving body is a six-sided panel which contains a sinuous interlacing beast whose tale ends in a scroll and whose head looks forward to the left, the mouth agape. A leg and foot can be seen adjacent to the lower part of the frame. The decoration has been inalid with what appears to have been niello, though now rather degraded. The bifurcated attachment end is a little broken.

A copper alloy medieval seal matrix dating to the period c. AD 1250 - 1300. The seal matrix is a pointed oval shape and features a D-shaped integral pierced lug on the reverse. There is a longitudinal ridge extending from the bottom of the pierced loop to the tip of the seal matrix on the reverse.

An incomplete unidentified object, very similar to BH-CA39C0. It comprises an incomplete copper-alloy ring, circular in cross-section (c.3mm diameter) and with a double moulded collar to one side from which extends a circular-section spigot, apparently tapering to a point. It measures 15.77mm in length, 15.27mm in max.width and 6.57mm in max.thickness (at the collar). It weighs 2.42g.
Of BH-CA39C0 the authors write 'The form of this piece suggests it was probably a swivelling handle attachment, probably from a Roman metal vessel'.
