Period: post-1714 AD Description: thin sheet silver object, badly damaged/ crumpled. On one side of what remains is an incised line along both long edges creating a border. Within this, on the same side, are further incised lines which could represent foliage. There also appears to be a partial maker's mark of 'M&' in the centre. The reverse appears plain. Dimensions: Length: 37.19mm; Width: 24.90mm; Weight: 0.9g Discussion: The style of lettering used for the maker's mark suggests a modern date.

Roman gold finger ring, rather crushed and distorted and quite heavily worn. The circular hoop of lenticular cross-section expands to narrow triangular shoulders, one decorated with a slightly raised moulding the other with a pair of shallow incised lines. The bezel is flat, sub-rectangular and undecorated. Discussion: a not dissimilar ring was discovered at Highnam, Gloucestershire (2006 T136; PAS GLO-DAC097). Post medieval lead inkwell of 17th to 18th century date The inkwell is complete with some surface damage (with a length of 44.0mm and a weight of 254.8g). The base is flat and sub-circular with nine bold ribs (giving a diameter of 40.6mm - 13.0mm). Leaf-shaped flake with covering retouch on its dorsal side and with faint broad ripples on the ventral. A medieval cast copper-alloy buckle frame. The frame is oval, with an offset bar, the bar being distorted as a result of old damage. There is a grooved pin rest in the centre of the pointed outside edge, flanked to each side by a double moulding parallel to the groove; the mouldings project slightly beyond the outside edge, to the front of the buckle. It is bevelled both externally and internally on the front. A thick sheet pin survives looped around the bar. An incomplete Iron Age copper alloy pin, dating 500-200 BC. The pin is formed of a disc shaped head on top of a circular sectioned shank that tapers to the point. There is a ridge running around the edge of the head with a decorative rib above and below. On top of the ead is a recess in which a decorative material would have been placed, either enamel or coral, though it is no longer present. A glass Roman gaming counter dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The counter is oval in shape and convex. The reverse is slightly dished. The counter is a very dark opaque blue/black and features a central inset spot of red glass surrounded by three irregularly sized spots of white glass on the upper face. The underside of the gaming counter features a number of air holes from the manufacture process. Cf. HESH-5792F7 for a similar example on the database. Cf. Two silver coins, late issues of the Amirs of Sind, probably of the ruler Ahmad or imitations thereof. They were produced in the early 11th Century. Coin 1: 0.28g, 8mm Coin 2: 0.30g, 7mm The coins originated from the area of modern day Pakistan. It is extremely unlikely that they would have circulated so far at the time they were in use, and their transportation to Britain probably did not take place before the second Anglo-Maratha War (1802-3) when the East India Company first established itself in regions where these coins are found.
