A worn and corroded iron annular buckle frame of probable Medieval or later date. It has an annular frame that is circular in section. Hinging around the frame is a separately cast iron pin that is rectangular in form, oval in section, and has a rounded tip that is currently stuck to the underside of the frame due to post-depositional iron corrosion. The entire object measures 16.07mm in diameter, 3.10mm in thickness, and 1.54g in weight. This buckle frame is of probable Medieval date, c.14th-15th centuries AD, if not slightly later (as Egan and Pritchard, 1991: nos. 55, 72, 88).

A fragment of a copper-alloy double-loop buckle of post-Medieval date. The remaining piece of the frame indicates that this was once a symmetrical buckle with two D-shaped sides. Just under half of the left-hand side of the frame survives, along with the central axis bar and a small remnant of the right-hand side. The more complete side is generally of flat section, but there is a miscast area at the top, where the upper surface of the frame is concave. The axis bar is also poorly finished, having an irregular surface in parts. Incised lines at the top left corner of the frame may …

A copper-alloy single-loop buckle of medieval date. The frame is D-shaped in plan, has sloping upper surfaces, a flat underside and an offset axis bar. The two tabs linking the rectangular front plate and incomplete back plate have been folded around this bar. Two copper-alloy rivets, located at the corners at the frame end of the plate, join together the upper and lower plates, with two empty rivet holes at the opposite end of the upper plate. The now-missing pin would originally have been looped around the axis bar via the space between the two aforementioned plate tabs.

An incomplete copper-alloy double-loop buckle of post-Medieval date. The intact side of the frame is 'D' shaped, with steep inner edges and flat upper surfaces that slope downwards and outwards. The axis bar has an oval cross section. Little remains of the other side of the frame, but the surviving portion suggests this was originally a symmetrical buckle. Looped loosely around the axis bar, the pin has a D-shaped cross section and parallel sides throughout most of its length, tapering only at the tip, which overhangs the edge of the frame.

An incomplete and distorted copper-alloy frame from a medieval single-loop buckle. The frame comprises a strip of flat section which narrows towards the inner side, where it terminates in two opposing axis bar cylinders. The axis bar is largely missing, but iron corrosion on both cylinders attests to its former composition. Longitudinal lines of rocker-arm grooves decorate the outer face of the frame.
