A cast copper-alloy Roman multifunctional eating utensil, dating to the second or third century AD. The handle is in the form of an elongated, crouching feline, probably a lion or panther, with front legs outstretched. The legs are set forward of and below the animal's head which has moulded ears, slight recesses for eyes and a groove showing the mouth. An incomplete cowhide shoe, possibly a military boot dating to the late second or early third century AD. The shoe has been designed to be worn on the left foot. The shoe is swayed and very pointed. The toe turns noticeably inward. The toe is very pointed and tapers to the tread of the foot. The waist and seat are almost straight, with little variation in width. A copper-alloy vessel mount, possibly from a large bowl similar to those of Eggers Type 96, 98, 99, 100, 102, 103 and 104 depicting a naked figure reclining under a tree, dating to the Roman period. Roman gold finger ring, rather crushed and distorted and quite heavily worn. The circular hoop of lenticular cross-section expands to narrow triangular shoulders, one decorated with a slightly raised moulding the other with a pair of shallow incised lines. The bezel is flat, sub-rectangular and undecorated. Discussion: a not dissimilar ring was discovered at Highnam, Gloucestershire (2006 T136; PAS GLO-DAC097). An incomplete Roman (AD 50-150) copper alloy Colchester derivitive brooch with a spring mechanism, missing most of one wing, the foot and catchplate, and the spring and pin. The brooch measures 42.01mm in incomplete length and weighs 7.78g. All original patina is missing and all breaks are old. The wings are 'C' shaped in cross-section and span 19.48mm.
