A glass Roman gaming counter dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The counter is oval in shape and convex. The reverse is slightly dished. The counter is a very dark opaque blue/black and features a central inset spot of red glass surrounded by three irregularly sized spots of white glass on the upper face. The underside of the gaming counter features a number of air holes from the manufacture process. Cf. HESH-5792F7 for a similar example on the database. Cf. Three lead alloy possible gaming pieces of uncertain date. Each piece is circular in plan and is cylindrical. At the top and bottom of each piece, eight sub-triangular or wedge shapes are cut out of the face of the object, creating a sunburst pattern. The objects are decorated with vertical ridges running down their length. Two of the gaming pieces weigh 9.0g while the third with more rounded and worn edges weighs 8.3g.
