An incomplete copper-alloy Roman zoomorphic plate brooch in the form of a bird. It is missing the head, wings, pin, catchplate, lug and part of the tail due to old breaks, now worn. It is flat. The main body is sub-oval in form and tapers before expanding to a flaring tail. At the top of the body are the remains of where the now missing head would have been placed. Behind the head is a raised downward pointing triangular rib. The rib and the plate to either side are decorated with transverse wavey grooves.
