Late medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy book-clasp, of Howsam type A.3, probably of 15th to 17th century date. The clasp is near-complete, with some peripheral loss (with a length of 67.9mm, a depth of 5.3mm and a weight of 15.8g). The clasp is made from two-pieces of sheet copper alloy, attached using three rivets. One larger rivet at the centre, towards the clasp and two smaller rivets at the attachment end. An incomplete cast copper alloy book clasp of medieval to post-medieval date. It is made of a single sheet of metal which is rectangular in plan, but flares out to a fish tail at one end. This fishtail has a scalloped edge, and the scallops are bent and one is broken with a worn break. There are incised lines on the scallops which form a herringbone pattern, and a few of these lines radiate onto the main body of the clasp.
