A cast copper alloy spherical bell ( a rumble bell). produced between the 13th -18th Century. This example based on the shape of the suspension loop dates to around the last quarter of the 17th Century or possible later. Spherical in shape with transverse ridge (seam) where the two halves have been joined. There are two circular sound holes in the top section and two additonal sound holes connected by a slit in the lower section. The bell contains an Iron pea. Dark grey green in colour, Decoration - Plain The bell measures 28mm wide 35mm high and weighs 20gms

A cast copper alloy, spherical bell of post-Medieval date, AD 1600 - 1750. The upper half of the bell is undecorated and perforated with a pair of circular sound holes. There is a flat, rectangular suspension loop, also perforated with a circular hole. A raised ridge runs around the circumference of the bell, separating the two halves. Below this, the lower half is pierced by a narrow basal slot with circular ends and is decorated with a series of closely spaced, incised lines radiating outwards from the slot. An incomplete post medieval cast copper alloy crotal bell. The bell is spherical in shape, and comprises a ridge around the circumference with a worn broken attachment point on the top for suspension. Below the ridge on the bottom there is a gap and two sound holes. The object is a little worn, with cracks extending into the metal from the sound holes. It is green-brown in colour and is a little corroded in places on the surface. It measures 26.28mm in diameter, 28.84mm in height and weighs 19.89g. Parellels on the database include IOW-F77566 and NLM-DB7C85.
